Exoderil® – Topical Antifungal Agent

Exoderil® is a topical medication used for the treatment of fungal infections. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) product and can be purchased at any pharmacy in Georgia, including:

  • PSP
  • Aversi
  • GPC
  • Pharmadepo
  • Impex

Exoderil® has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. It contains naftifine hydrochloride and is intended for use in patients aged 18 years and older.

Exoderil® Cream

Used for the local treatment of fungal infections caused by naftifine-sensitive pathogens, including:

  • Fungal infections of the skin and skin folds, with or without itching
  • Cutaneous candidiasis
  • Pityriasis versicolor

How to use Exoderil® Cream:

  • Intended for topical use to treat fungal skin infections.
  • Clean and dry the affected area and surrounding skin, then gently massage the cream into the skin.
  • For patients over 18 years old: apply once daily.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

Duration of treatment with Exoderil® Cream:

  • Skin fungal infections: 2–4 weeks (up to 8 weeks if necessary)
  • Cutaneous candidiasis: 4 weeks
  • To prevent recurrence, continue treatment for 2 weeks after clinical recovery.
  • If no improvement occurs after 4 weeks, consult a physician.

Exoderil® Solution

Used for the local treatment of fungal infections caused by naftifine-sensitive pathogens, including:

  • Fungal nail infections

How to use Exoderil® Solution:

  • Intended for topical use to treat fungal infections.
  • Clean and dry the affected nail and surrounding area, then gently apply the solution starting from the free edge of the nail.
  • For patients over 18 years old: apply twice daily.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

Duration of treatment with Exoderil® Solution:

  • Fungal nail infections: up to 6 months
  • To prevent recurrence, continue treatment for 2 weeks after clinical recovery.
  • If no improvement occurs after 4 weeks, consult a physician.

Tips for Faster Recovery and Preventing Reinfection:

  • Change clothing and underwear that contact affected skin or nails daily.
  • Avoid wearing tight, non-breathable clothing or shoes (e.g., synthetic socks, narrow shoes). After bathing, thoroughly dry affected skin and nails. Wash towels and washcloths daily.
  • To prevent the spread of infection and reinfection, avoid walking barefoot at home, in the bathroom, hotels, or pools.
  • Use saunas and baths only after full recovery from the fungal infection.

Special Precautions and Safety Measures:

  • Do not apply to damaged skin.
  • Exoderil® cream is not for ophthalmic use. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
  • The cream contains cetyl and stearyl alcohols (40 mg per 1 g), which may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis).
  • Each 1 g also contains 10 mg benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which may cause mild local irritation or allergic reactions.
  • Do not mix with other topical medications, as reduced active ingredient concentration may reduce efficacy.
  • The cream is not phototoxic and does not cause photosensitivity.

Use During Pregnancy and Lactation:

Exoderil® should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding for safety reasons.

Over-the-Counter Status:

Exoderil® is a pharmaceutical product group III medication and is available without a prescription in pharmacies.

Storage Conditions:

  • Store at below 30°C, out of reach of children.
  • Opened tube: store at below 25°C, use within 28 days.

Side Effects:
